Prof. S. K. Kak (from Electronics Engineering Department of ITBHU) has been appointed as new VC of Chaudhary Charan Singh University (Meerut University), UP.
He has been appointed initially for six-months, which can be extended for a total of three years. He joined as VC of Meerut University on Sept. 09, 2008.

LUCKNOW: Prof SP Ojha, vice-chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, finally resigned from his post following a month long controversy after release of a CD which allegedly showed him taking a bribe.Though no inquiry was done to verify the authenticity of the CD, Prof Ojha was reportedly asked to quit by the governor TV Rajeswar, who is also chancellor of the state universities.
The governor, said sources, was of the view that the person sitting on the post of vice-chancellor should be above all doubts.
However, the official press release issued by the Raj Bhawan said that governor has appointed Prof SK Kak, of the electronics and engineering department, institute of technology, Banaras Hindu University, as the new vice-chancellor of Meerut University following resignation of Prof Ojha.
The CD in question showed Prof Ojha sitting in a room and a person putting some money on the table.

February 4, 2010 8:44 PMI am a student of dentistry ,my college is affiliated from ccs university, i have seen a lot of students criticising the present VC. we were always told he is a doctor from kgmc lucknow , there was a case by some students who got backs, we had been sitting home for 6 months now , BDS examination has now been made centralised by the present Vc , but BDS 1st year result, for the first time shocked us on 50 students out 100 were promoted, a lot of students who never attend clinics/lectures were promoted(mainly corruption/influence) and students having 100% attendance were failed miserably in all subjects.
Proffesional colleges specially medical ones are a little different, we work round the year for welfare of patients , maintain records , respect our teachers , respect society and that all used to be considered in our exams, we had a face value in our college. but now even we are going to be butchered.
We all the respect to the VC , it is our humble request to reconsider this particular decision.
having centres for examination is fine but centralised checking is not fine in our field , it makes students more indiciplined in colleges.
I was a student of Dr. S. K. Kak way back in 1985-87 at IT BHU, and found him to be a great motivator and as a professor he was equally at home with either research papers or in the lab. Above all he seemed to have a knack of understanding students and always had time for a good word.
