After a thought provoking and intense panel discussion held a couple of months ago, it's time for some informal get-together! AIBA is pleased to announce the annual family dinner 2008 on 20th December 2008, from 7:00 PM Onwards.

Apart from dinner (veg and non-veg.) and drinks of course, we are looking forward for some real fun in terms of games, music, dance and what not!. Entries are invited for formal/informal performances.

The meeting of Mid-West Alumni Chapter of IT-BHU Alumni Association is now planned for December 20, 2008 (Saturday) at Chicago. The venue will be Ashyana Restaurant in Downers Grove IL (Chicago area). The meet would materialize if we have at least 20 alumni willing to come. Also invite friends who are our Alumni and might not be on our list yet.

Earlier planned meeting on November 21st is canceled due to low response. We are sorry to those who agreed to come and might have made changes to their schedules to fit the meet in. We still want to host the meet sometime soon and make this a more regular affair (probably Quarterly meetings) to strengthen Alumni ties in this area.

We understand it might be too early to commit for December 20 meet, but still we would like to know if the date is suitable. Other suggestions are welcome. If required we will vote on the date. Hope the beginning of holiday season works better for everyone.

Hoping to hear back soon!!

IIM students launch portal to help new consultants

23 Oct, 2008, 1135 hrs IST, IANS

LUCKNOW: Interested in a career in business consultancy, but don't know where to begin? Well, for starters, you could log on to www.Learn2consult.com, a portal launched by three students of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

"The portal has been designed in such a way that it acts as a one-stop shop for all those who want to know about consulting or want to start their career in the field," said IIM Lucknow (IIML) student and co-founder of the portal Karan Ahuja.

The portal's other founders are Alok Rustagi, a student of IIM Kozhikode, and Rajat Kashyap of IIML.

"As there was no comprehensive portal dedicated to graduate students, management students or beginners who want to make a career in consulting, we thought of designing such a website," added Ahuja.

The portal has also been linked to industry experts in order to provide expert guidance.

The other highlight of the portal is its 'Ask the expert' section where beginners can find answers to their queries and questions.

According to the IIM students, there are still lots of speculations and myths about consulting as a profession.

Most of the students don't have a clear focus towards consulting. This is primarily due to traditional preference for finance oriented jobs and lack of dedicated courses designed to train people in consulting skills, they said.
