Former Novartis Senior vice-president Yugal Sikri will be the new India CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories, the country's largest drugmaker by sales, which was taken over by Japanese company Daiichi Sankyo a year ago, reports Mahima Puri from New Delhi.
According to a person familiar with the development, Mr Sikri, who is in his mid-forties , will take charge at the company's Mumbai office later this month and report to Asia-Pacific CEO Sanjeev Dani. Mr Sikri's appointment will be Daiichi's first important hiring after it bought Ranbaxy for close to $4 billion in June 2008.
Mr Sikri holds a Masters in Pharmaceutics from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University.
I am feeling a little more proud on my institute today!
