This is promising.

Is there any update on the two most important recommendations of the HR Standing Committee

1. Harmonisation of the IT - BHU Governing Council by capping one Executive Member from BHU vis a vis two
2. IT - BHU to also be provided a state area for mentorship

Have the two recommendations been adopted by the cabinet

Dear All,

We need to keep our fingers crossed and eagerly wait and watch the proceedings for March 9, 16 and April 6, 13, 20, the days when HRD related business will be taken up in Lok Sabha.

I feel that this session will certainly make our wish full fill, and the current passing batch of 2011 will pass out of an IIT.

Lets pray god and wish for the IIT.

Dear All,

In all there were around 26 bills, which have already been introducted (including standing committe reports if appicable) and are now considered for consideration and passing in this session.

Now for Wednesday sessions, there are 10 ministries, which are scheduled for business on wednesdays alongwith MHRD.

Now out of the total 26 bills for consideration and passing, around 8-10 bills are related to the above 10 ministries, with maximum no. of bills from MHRD i.e. 4 (including Institute of technology bill). Hence, i feel that with 5 days of working, 4 bills of MHRD will sure to be passed if not in Mar'11 but in April'11.

Lets see whats there with MHRD for tomorrow.

Check out this link
http://www.hindu.com/2011/03/05/stories/2011030562461000.htm

The finance bill will be passed by the lok sabha on 21 and 22 march. assuming it is passed on 22 march, we'll still have 3 days ie 23, 24, 25 march to get IT act amendment bill passed in lok sabha. On these 3 days lok sabha wont have so much load as the focus will be on passing of finance bill by rajya sabha.

I think our alumni need to make sure that this bill is the first one to be passed during 23-25 march. it is given max priority. luckily, if it is passed by lok sabha on 23 we might be able to get it passed by rajya sabha on the last day ie 25th march. Lets hope for the best.

The next is the passing of this bill by the Rajya Sabha and finally the signature of the President for this bill to be become an act by modification of the original Act. These should move swiftly as Kapil Sibal had expressed his concern about the fate of the students who could be affected if this bill was not passed swiftly.

My only concern was that Kapil Sibal needed to ensure that this bill did not lapse on account of limitation

It has to be passed by Rajya Sabha and then finally president approval. For Rajya Sabha, only one day left in the present session.

If it gets passed in Rajya Sabha tomorrow, then it will become a law. "If" it is taken up in RS tomorrow, it should get passed as very less probability that it is referred back to LS.

This is the list of business for tomorrow in rajya sabha. Nothing major. Just a handful of bills to be introduced and passed. Our bill can easily be given high priority and placed in this list of business when it is revised at the end of the day.

Lets hope for the best. Im too excited and dont want to wait for another session to get it passed in RS now.

All IITians, party on in college!!
A big thanks from current IIT (BHU) students to all those who were involved in making this dream come true.
