We are pleased to announce the 2013 election for Board of Directors for our IIT (BHU)
Global Alumni Association-India (IBGAA-India). The election was formally announced in
January issue of Chronicle:
 
 
IIT (BHU) GLOBAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (INDIA), a not-for-profit society Registered
under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1960, Registration No 136/2009-10
Registered and Approved under Section 12-A & 80G of Income Tax Act 1961, is the
nodal organization of the alumni of Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu
University. Our Association is a non-profit organization, and has a wide representation
from our alumni senior officials from the government, public, and private sectors, and
from various industry fora.
 
The election process of forming new Board of Directors shall be over in next 2 months.
The new BoD for IBGAA-India shall be ready by April end.
 
• Announcement of BoD election: January 31, 2013
 
• Last date of receiving nomination: February 28, 2013
 
• Last date of withdrawing or changing nominations: March 10, 2013
 
• The new board of directors will for the term from April 2013 to March 2015.
 
In case of more than one nomination for a particular post, voting shall be done by
the members of CoR (Council of Representatives) from India. The election shall be
monitored by the election team, whose decision shall be final. The 4-member team of
election officers is lead by Jairaj Hegde (Electrical 1982).

About Board
 
The Board of Directors (BoD) of IBGAA-India is the highest-level, decision-making
legal body to help our alumni association in the day to day functions. It has minimum 6
members from alumni from different states; and director from our institute as ex-officio
Chairman from our institute. The Board represents interests of alumni, students, faculty
and staff from India.
 
The activities of the association center around our efforts to improve quality of the
technical education, viz., institute-industry participation, and alumni participation in
education; we also maintain a network of alumni through various events and programs.

Instructions for sending nomination for IBGAA-India election
 
Below please find general instructions for sending nomination for member of Board of
Directors.
 
Last day for sending nomination is February 28, 2013.
 
Last day of withdrawing nomination is March 10, 2013.

Note that this process will be used to elect at least 6 and at most 29 directors, as per
the bylaws of the organization.
 
Salient Features
 
1. Only registered members (those with IDs (on www.itbhuglobal.org) who are
Indian nationals & normally residing in India, will be eligible to become Governing Body
members. IMPORTANT: Proof of residence will be required to be submitted.
 
2. Director IT is ex-officio Chairman and his election is not required. Chairman
can induct certain specified faculty/staff/students for the 'ex-officio' Governing Body
members without any election process, but their total nos. cannot exceed 'elected'
governing body members.
 
3. Election of 6 governing body members is due from those alumni who are NOT
presently faculty/staff/student.
 
4. Election shall be held in two phases. In the first phase, the 'elected' Governing
Body shall be elected by the registered members. In the second phase, the entire
Governing Body ('elected' & ex-officio) shall elect the Secretary & Treasurer from the
 
so 'elected' Governing Body members only.
 
5. Election will be held electronically over the website www.itbhuglobal.org
 
6. The election will be supervised by Election Officers appointed by the Governing
Body. The decision of Election Officer shall be final and binding for the election
outcome.
 
7. Since this association is registered as an all India body, its governing body
members have to be necessarily from at least SEVEN States of India. Since
Chairman (Director, IT BHU) & other ex-officio governing body members will have
UP address, 'elected' governing body members have to be from at least SIX other
States of India.
 
General:
 
1. Checklist
 
Please verify that you meet the following criteria:
 
a) You are an alumnus of our institute (Only alumnus need apply. The students, faculty
and staff are already represented by ex-officio directors)
 
b) You are a registered member of our alumni association, IIT (BHU) Global Alumni
Association (as verified on our registered alumni database).
 
If you are still not a registered member, you can register with us by visiting
www.itbhuglobal.org/register and filling out details, which takes only few minutes.
 
c) You are willing to work on alumni related activities and devote some time on alumni
issues and projects.
 
d) You meet the criteria listed in the "Salient Features" paragraph above.

b) Your branch/year of graduation
 
c) Type of degree (B.Sc. /B. Tech., M. Tech/Integrated M. Tech. /Dual degree/PhD)
