The students of Chemical Engineering have asked for help in organising their industrial tour.
They would be visiting Bangalore from 13th to 17 December. If the alumni can help in organising industry visits for the students during that time they can send a mail to the bangalore_itbhu@yahoo.com
We will forward the information to the students who would get in touch with you.
The following presentations were made to the alumni during the 8th November meet.
We are awaiting more photographs .. and would upload them as soon as we can get them.
The day was 8th, November, 2003. The place was the Bowering Institute. It was here that a group of 150 odd IT BHU alumni gathered to kick start the Bangalore chapter of itbhu.org
Despite the heavy rains the people started showing up before time. Prakash Kamani (MIN 99) and Prashant Joshi (CSE 03) at the registration desk had a difficult time managing flocks of people coming in.
With all the hectic activity happening at the registration desk the behind the scene activities of getting the mics up and the projector in place were ably handled by Himanshu Bhalla (CSE 03) and Pradeep Dubey (ECE 03). It was their running around due to which we could get the banners and mics in place on time.
'Thandai' was served and the junta mingled amongst themselves, reminiscing the days gone by.
Varanasi, BHU and IT life were made live through an excellent slide show prepared by Vivek Shukla (ECE 96) and Aakash Maheshwari(CSE 98)
We had the pleasure of having Prof. V V Chalum amongst us. Prof. Chalum retired as the Director of IT - BHU in 1988. He has also served the Institute as the HOD on Electrical Engineering department and was associated with IT for more than 35 years. Most of us there weren't lucky enough to have studied under him. But non-the-less his students have made him proud .. Prof Rajshekhar (HOD EE), Prof M. Bhattacharya (HOD EE, Director IT, VC Guwahati University) are a couple of his students. He gave a nice talk and urged the alumni to come together and organise themselves because that was the need of the hour.
Prof. Chalum's talk was followed by a presentation by Anshuman (EEE 98) on what this alumni organisation was. The various whys and whats and ifs and buts were presented and discussed and information about the organisations website and contacts were disseminated.
Thereafter, Shiv Shankar Maurya (ECE 98) presented - Prayas. Prayas, is a non profit organisation, set up to coordinate various alumni activities aimed towards the improvement of IT BHU. Shiv is also a member on the Board of Trustees for Prayas.
The latest at IT was presented by Saurabh Kishore (ECE 96) and he drew a loud round of applause when he let the Junta know about the new girls hostel that has come up at IT.
After the news it was time for a song from Sanat Bajpai (EEE 92). He sang the song for which he holds the patent for at IT ...
" Nakhre wali .. hummm hummm hummm humm.."
" Woh to koi aur thi jo ... "
The fantastic song by Sanat was followed by a presentation on our plans for the future. The presentation was done by Deepesh (ECE 98) who took the alumni through various issues that confront us .. what do we need to do .. how do we do it .. were all a part of this presentation.
A quiz on Banaras / BHU was the last item before the gathering broke for dinner.
While people were having their dinner Mr. Maini (Class of 1954), shared with us his bigger vision of the alumni organisation and urged us to attend the BHU International meet happening in Mumbai on
3rd and 4th January, 2004. Mr. Maini is the MD of Maini Group of companies one of which produces, REVA - India's First Electric Car.
Junta topped of their dinners with a Banarasi paan and had a wonderful time meeting some real old friends. Some said "I think I know you !" while some other said .. "Now I know you !"
Some old memories were refreshed and some new ones were added, and as the evening turned to night the merry band of IT BHUites dispursed with the hope of meeting sometime again.
