Talk on RTI Act

Dear Alumnus,
We are back again with a very stimulating talk on the Right to Information Act 2005.

This act is a law enacted by the Parliament of India giving citizens of India access to Government records. The Act applies to all States and Union Territories of India, except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the provisions of the Act, any citizen may request information from a "public authority" (a body of Government or instrumentality of State) which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days.

This law gives the citizens of India a unique power to know about the state of affairs from various govt. bodies . It is an excellent tool in the hands of ordinary citizens to fight inefficiency, red-tapism & corruption.

To make you aware about the law, it's powers and how to use it effectively; we have invited a very distinguished speaker - Prof. M. M. Ansari from Central Information Commission, to address you as per the following Program.
