Indian economy is arguably at a point from where it can take off like a Superjumbo taking to the skies. Can elephants fly? That is the question! An eminent panel made up of distinguished scientists, economists, technocrats and government representatives will debate and discuss the ways and means by which the Indian economy can take wings in the next 20 years. It can be said that the last 20 years have seen the liberalization of the economy and the unshackling of the Indian entrepreneurial spirit.
The recent success of the Beijing Olympics has put China's technological prowess in a positive limelight Can India now launch an era of technological excellence par excellence (pun intended) that will attack most of the critical problems faced by the country by using its vast human resource pool of scientists, engineers, managers and entrepreneurs? What are the issues coming in the way of such a launch? Is it a problem of poor national visioning? Or one of poor planning? Is it because of shortsighted reactions to global change? Or of inadequate/inefficient implementation of grandly laid out plans? Is our education system coming in the way of creating enlightened technocrats?
The sponsors of the event believe that India is ready to explore a quantum leap of faith into an era of extremely rich technological excellence. Think agricultural robots, nuclear airliners, advanced nano materials, repair-free roads, massively-parallel education and other advanced concepts of the future! How can we Indians usher in this era, with a national consensus on vision, mission and goals, would be the question under discussion.
Think of all that your Alma Mater gave you in your journey of life and volunteer to make this event one that will do the Mahamana proud!
With best regards,
