Dear Members
As Treasurer of the Association, I feel privileged to present to you the financial report of
our association.
1. Financials I hope you have seen the Annual Report of the Association. Today we
have a healthy balance sheet of about INR1.1Million which includes over
INR0.2Million of contribution specifically for enhancing the IT BHU infrastructure.
There is a modest growth in our corpus owing to memberships and largely due to
sponsorships & advertisements. The expenses have seen a rise too in line with the
vibrant events and participation that we see off-late. The income in excess of
expenditure may look higher owing to the significant contribution from the alumni of
81 Batch led by Sri Mirle. This is being marshalled for rennovating the well known G-
11 conference Hall.
2. Sponsorships & Advertisements: It feels good to see the association sustaining,
growing and attaining stabiliity to organize now the 7th AGM as also the awards and
cultural evening at this scale and at possibly one of the best venues in NCR of Delhi.
This would not have been possible without help from you all and especially some
members who quietly keep working in the background and some who generously
help taking sponsorship and souvenir advertisements and leverage the events as well
as the entity that today we have come to be. The list of names has increased for me
to go through and its heartening to see the alumni having a feel for the association
and wanting to actively contribute towards it. I urge each one of us to come
forward on our own and try atleast once a year to help contribute in the form of
sponsorship or advertisement.
3. Attaining the AIBA Objectives: That said it is really important for us to revisit
some of the objectives that we had set for ourselves when this body was formed
seven years back namely,
(a) to create an awareness about the achievements, contribution and the rich
heritage of the Institute within the media as well as the industry,
(b) to help the Institute collaborate with the industry for better student placements,
faculty upgrade, scholarship funds, institute awards for outstanding project work,
research papers and recognise outstanding social/community services rendered
(c) to establish closer interaction amongst members and the industry
We have done up a few things, but truly speaking we have not been able to do as
much as we would want to. To achieve these we need:
(a) voluntary & active participation in the affairs from members, and
(b) a corpus that can meaningfully start some of these activities
I request for volunteers amongst us to spearhead as a leader and grow the
movement to realize each of these. Should you want to do so please
communicate to any one of us.
4. Membership Growth: Last but possibly the most important subject is the factor
that reflects the health of this Association - and that is the growth in membership.
Truly speaking this actually remains the weakest part of our association. I wonder if
we do not even have a few active and spirited members who can lead this and
ensure that atleast all those who are in NCR of Delhi and in neighbouring states as
well as those who have an establishment in Delhi can be made a member? I
sincerely urge those in the august gathering to galvanize and rise to the occasion and
help us get more participation in growing the memberships without which we
practically become a static and an archive body. Before the end of the day, I will be
keen to see atleast 5 people who can come up and say YES I OWN THIS UP AND I
WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. Lets see if we have people here who can take this cause
for good.
Concluding,I request the distinguished alumni who have made a significant difference in their own field to join us as well as guide us in working towards attaining each of these
objectives. I am sure today we all feel proud as a member of this alumni body that we are part of. I am equally sure we feel it inside us that we all can actually do a little bit to make a significant difference in our attaining the cause of the association.
Leaving you with these thoughts, I would like to thank governing body members, all
our association members, our sponsors and all our well wishers for contributing to the
cause of Association of IT BHU Alumni.
Adoption
I put across the AIBA FY08-09 Annual Report for adoption.
Warm regards & best wishes
Sanjai Sorick
