Report: Alumni Reunion Bangalore - 22nd Jan '06
Chronicle Editor @ Feb 19, 2006

The 3rd Alumni Meet of the IT-BHU Bangalore Chapter was a fun packed event where 137 passouts of IT-BHU assembled at the Indiranagar Club to make the event another favourite destination to revisit in their memories. The occasion was graced by seniors from as enthusiastic as 1948 batch to the most recent 2005 batch. It was all about fun, networking and contributing to the cause of IT-BHU.

The event was started with Kulgeet, when everyone present rose on their places to join in the words. Welcomed by the “ thandai “ and a video on Varanasi all the seniors seemed to defy their age to relive their B.Tech. days. An update on the alumni projects @ the Institute was given. This was followed by a cultural show ( by our own alumni ) which included A.R.Rehman’s “Vande Mataram” , relived on stage with the synthesizer ( Alas ! Rehman missed the show ). Next in line was a skit that depicted the life before and during exams and Job-Interviews in IT-BHU which emerged as the winner for highest laughs. The quiz was conducted in two rounds to keep the audience interaction alive ( we as engineers always favour the duplex form of communication). An icing on the cake was the duo-dance ( Nach Baliye).

Last but not the least we had an auction of a painting, subject being "Ghat in Varanasi", which was an effort to collect funds for the Wi-Fi project at IT-BHU on behalf of the Bangalore chapter. The bid opened at Rs.2000 and with people from all batches bidding it was finally taken by Shri T. S. Kasturi of 1962 Mechanical at Rs. 11,000. Others who wanted to fund the project were asked to give their pledges in writing so the money would be collected later. The event winded up with everybody joining in for dinner.

Finally everyone departed with smiles on face and joy at heart ... after all they had just revisited the 4 most precious years at IT just a while ago.
