Keeping up with the mood the much awaited, Banaras: A Mystic Love Story, writer L. C. Singh and director Pankuj Parashar came to Varanasi to unveil the music of the film. In the morning of 2nd March, a special yagnya and rudrabhishekh was performed on the banks of holy river Ganges on Dasashwamedh ghat by 16 learned pundits of Vedas. The whole environment resonated with the chants of holy Vedas as crowd gathered to witness one of the most elaborate Maha Pujas on the ghats. In the evening, at a function, in the presence of press and dignitaries of Varanasi at Hotel Taj Ganges, the cassettes and CDs were launched by Mahanth Shri Veer Bhadra Mishra and Hindi language scholar Dr. Manu Sharma. The audience was also treated with the clips of the songs. After attentively listening to the music of the film, the gathered dignitaries and press were ecstatic. Mahanth Shri Veer Bhadra Mishra said, “After listening to the music, I am confident that this film would deliver the mystic of Banaras to the world". The music of the movie has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and songs are written by Sameer who also hails from Banaras. All the songs of the film have used Indian ragas based on Banaras gharana of music with a contemporary feel. |
Banaras; a mystic love story has been directed by veteran director, Pankuj Parashar and main stars in the film are Urmila Matondkar, Ashmit Patel, Dimple Kapadia, Raj Babbar and Naseeruddin Shah.
The film has been produced under the banner of Setu Creations.
The cassettes and CDs are being distributed through Sony BMG. The music will be available in stores from 11th March 2006, all over the world.
The film is slated to release in theaters on 7th April 2006, all over India.
