Chronicle Editor @ Mar 12, 2006
Kashi Utkarsh, a student run social organization of the Institute of Technology, has been working for the alleviation of misery, penury and disease in its adopted villages of Lehartara and Susawahi, Varanasi. Some of the activities of the group include improvement of hygiene conditions through counseling. The Samiti is headed by Prof. B.B. Bansal, Mechanical Engineering Department. Here is the update:
- On 25th Feb., Kashi Utkarsh Samiti conducted 'Annual Academics' at Lehartara in which around 200 students participated in events like: written test, quiz, debate, speech, poetry etc. The deserving students were awarded.
- Recently a cleanliness program was conducted at Susawahi basti. Utkarsh Bhawan', a day boarding school for the children of Susawahi basti, is running successfully with around 10 children coming to school regularly.
- The children working in hostel messes are being sent to 'Mausi' house for primary education. Efforts are going on to send all the children to study at 'Mausi' house.
- Kashi Utkarsh Samiti would like to hear your suggestions to help improve the work. All KU alumni and interested people are requested to register at the website so that proper communication can be maintained.
