Attiganal N. Sreeram joins Dow Chemical Comany as VP, Core R&D
Arun @ Jun 15, 2006

The Dow Chemical Company has appointed Attiganal N. Sreeram as vice president for Dow Core Research and Development.

Reporting to Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Vice President for Research and Development Bill Banholzer, Sreeram will be responsible for driving Dow strategy for its global core research group.

Sreeram joins Dow from DuPont where he most recently served as global technology director and chief technology officer for DuPont Electronic technologies. He will relocate from Boothwyn, Pennsylvania to Midland, Michigan.

"We are very excited to welcome Sreeram to Dow," said Dow Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Research & Development Bill Banholzer. "He is a global leader with an outstanding record of success in building a strong team, developing technology platforms, and delivering innovation.

Banholzer continued: "As our chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris says, 'Innovation is critical to our company. It's the lifeblood of our industry and remains at the heart of our growth strategy. Dow is not just a chemical company; we're a materials company as well.' Sreeram's role is to help us identify new areas of science and technology. For example, the diesel particulate filters we're developing are a new area based on ceramic material - not a traditional market for Dow, but an example of how we're growing.

Sreeram's background in ceramics will be valuable as we explore more new areas for innovation. We are extremely pleased to have someone of his caliber joining our senior R&D leadership team."

Sreeram has extensive experience in the electronic chemical and materials industry. Before joining DuPont, he served as vice president of worldwide technology for Cookson Electronics, New Jersey, and before that, led the Electronic and Flat Display Program for Sarnoff Corporation, Princeton, New Jersey.

He holds an undergraduate degree in ceramics engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology - BHU, Varanasi, India; a master's degree in glass science from Alfred University; and a doctorate in ceramics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sreeram holds 19 issued patents, with others pending, and has contributed to many publications.
