The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Alumni Association, Ranchi unit will soon launch its own website with the details of the members. This was announced during the annual alumni meet at Mecon Horticulture Nursery on Sunday.

The alumni members felt that it would be easier for the members to remain in touch. Plans are also afoot to institute awards for the wards of the members of the alumni families to recognize their merits. The details of the plan will be worked out in the next meeting, likely to be held in June this year. The alumni are contemplating to bring out a souvenir in June.

The alumni's function got off with garlanding the portrait of the founder of the BHU, Madan Mohan Malaviya followed by the kulgeet and introduction of the members. The members also observed a two-minute's silence as a mark of homage for the departed soul of former Central Mine Planning & Design Institute PRO Ravindra Kumar, who died of dengue four months back.

RC Prasad, a retired HEC employee and the oldest member of the alumni association (he graduated in 1950 in engineering) shared his memories of the university. He thanked the teachers of the BHU and said that the atmosphere of BHU had taught him the nuances of practical life and prepared him to face the challenges of life, adversities in particular.

Several prominent persons from various walks of life including government officials, doctors, engineers, industrialists, businessmen, journalists and entrepreneurs were present along with their families.

While the elder members enjoyed the beauty of the surrounding, children were busy in playing games.
