Update on IIEST front
Arun @ Mar 21, 2007
It seems that govt. needs more time to think over on IIEST issue. While Kerala state govt. is agreeing for upgrade of CUSAT to IIEST and Andhra Pradesh state govt. is also ready for upgrading both its engineering colleges to IIEST- the Osmania University College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad, and the Andhra Pradesh College of Engineering, Visakhapatanam, it is the West Bengal state govt., which is creating hurdle for its college. The state govt. is not willing to up its hold over the college, Bengal Engineering College (BEC) -now known as Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU).

Once WB govt. is also agreeing for IIEST rules for its college, centre will go ahead with formalities to convert five selected colleges into IIESTs.

  1. An interesting news item about BEC and IIEST in Express India.

BESU tries hard for INI status but Centre needs more time
