A Symposium on Vacuum Electronic Devices and Applications (VEDA), 2009 was organized during January 8-10, 2009 by the Center of Research in Microwave Tubes (CRMT), Department of Electronics Engineering, Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, jointly with Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), CSIR, Pilani and Microwave Tube Research and Development Center (MTRDC), DRDO, Bangalore under the sponsorship of VEDA Society along with other organizations.

VEDA-2009 symposium was organized with the aim to bring together scientists, engineers, technologists and researchers working in academic institutes, research laboratories and industries on a common platform to interact with one another and to provide an opportunity to present their work as well as exchange information and understanding on recent advancement in the field of Vacuum Electronics Devices and its Applications.

The symposium included invited talks and contributory papers on emerging areas by eminent experts from various academic and research organizations as well as industries. In this context, original research papers and novel application papers were solicited and presented in the following areas:

·                     Vacuum Electron Devices (VEDs)

·                     Vacuum Microelectronic Devices, MEMS

·                     Plasma Filled and High-Power Devices

·                     Microwave Power Modules and Terahertz Devices

·                     High-Voltage and Pulsed Power Systems

·                     Electron Emitters

·                     Vacuum Systems and Technologies

·                     Computer Aided Design, RF Measurements and Characterisation

·                     Electron Tube Technology and Materials

·                     Applications of VEDs and Radar Systems

·                     Communication Systems and Antennas etc.

VEDA 2009 was held at K.N. Udupa Auditorium, B.H.U. The inauguration of VEDA 2009 was held at 08:00 am on January 8, 2008 after which contributory papers were presented by eminent researchers during different technical sessions organized during Jan8-10, 2009.

Prof. P. K. Jain (Coordinator, Center for Research in Microwave Tubes (CRMT), Department of Electronics Engineering, IT-BHU held the responsibility of Chairman, VEDA-2009 and Dr. Bhogendra Jha (Scientific Officer, Center for Research in Microwave Tubes (CRMT), Department of Electronics Engineering, IT-BHU acted as Secretary, VEDA-2009. The Organizing Committee included host of faculty members of Department of Electronics Engineering, IT-BHU.
