Prastuti is the flag ship event for the Electrical Engineering Society (EES), Department of Electrical Engineering, IT-BHU. The society was inaugurated for this session on 2nd January, 2009 in a ceremony held at the department.

Prastuti- The All India Students Paper Presentation Contest, organized by the EES in conjunction with IET, UK and IEEE Students Chapter was successfully conducted this year from 6th -8th March. Since its inception in 2001, Prastuti has been continually providing a platform to the young, budding technocrats of the country an opportunity to explore new ideas and present them. The papers presented are divided into four categories, viz.

* Computer Systems

* Electronics and Communication

* Electrical Engineering

* Electrical Sciences

Each passing year has seen Prastuti grow from strength to strength with each new year bringing in more enthusiasm and innovation and this year was no exception. This year's number of papers presented, along with their categories are listed below:

Computer Systems

11

Electronics and Communication & Electrical Sciences

11

Electrical Engineering

8

Total

30

The number of outstation participants saw an increase this year with students from  institutes like  G. B. P. U. A. & T  Pantnagar, MGIT Hyderabad, BIET  Hyderabad, UIIT  Shimla , KSIT   Bhubaneshwar , Indraprastha  Engineering  College Gaziabad, ,  NPTI  Badarpur   &  NIT  Calicut .

The inaugural of Prastuti was held on 6th March, 2009 at the G-8 hall, Department of Electrical Engineering, IT-BHU at 10:00 am. The function was presided over by Prof. V. Singh, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, BHU. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. A. N. Tripathi, ex- faculty, Department of Electrical Engineering, IT-BHU. Staff members and students of the department along with the outstation participants attended the function. The inaugural was followed by hi- tea. Later, a talk by the chief guest Prof. A.N. Tripathi was organized in which he emphasized on the importance of ethics in the technical field. The talk was very enlightening for the future technocrats who would soon begin their careers in the field.

After the inaugural and the talk, there were some very thought provoking presentations on diverse topics from the realm of engineering. Some of the papers, worthy of a mention are:

* Authentically Secure Certificates by Amulya Singh & Aparna Kulshreshtha of Indraprastha Engineering College, Gaziabad,

*A Multiple Output Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) With Fully Isolated and Regulated Outputs with a Single DC-DC Converter by Misha Kumar of NPTI, Badarpur,

 * Design  Of  Autonomous Robot Soccer Governed By Image Processing by  Avanish Tripathi & Shreyas Tiwari of IT-BHU,

 * Modular Approach To Client Side Web Engineering  by  J. R. Harshath & Pawan Kumar  of IT-BHU,

* Simulation of Microprocessors and Computer Systems: Simulators, Benchmarks and Methodologies by O Prashanth Sharma of IT-BHU.

The untiring participants were ready for another round of brainstorming after a rigorous day of paper presentation. They proved their technical acumen in a different form this time- in an overnight software contest, which saw a healthy participation of students.

On day 2 of Prastuti, i.e. on 7th March, other than the paper presentations, a cultural nite was organized to lighten the mood and to infuse some relaxation in the already overworked gray matters. A number of cultural programs were staged by the students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, IT-BHU to entertain the audiences. Included in them was a skit depicting the IT to IIT conversion crisis, a number of soulful songs rendered in melodious voices, mimicry performances and a dance program.

On the final day of Prastuti, after the completion of the remaining presentations, the valedictory function was held. Prof. R. N. Bandopadhyaya was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The participants were duly awarded for their efforts and even those who did not win a prize, returned home with a memorable experience.

The List of the Winning Participants is as follows:
