On 31st of August, Dhanrajgiri Hostel won Adel Memorial Inter Hostel Football Tournament by defeating Morvi Hostel comprehensively. In a classic display of superiority, Dhanrajgiri defeated Morvi by 2-0. Morvi Hostel, which was considered to be one of the favorites did not play throughout the tournament as per expectations and conceded one goal in each half.

Adel Memorial inter hostel Football Tournament was inaugurated on August 21st at Rajputana ground. Professor S. N. Upadhyay - Director, IT-BHU, was chief guest of the function. Professor Virendra Singh - Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology; Dr. P. K. Mishra - President, Gymkhana; Dr. Y. C. Sharma - Chairman, Sports Wing, Gymkhana; Mr. Satish Kanojia - Administrative officer, Gymkhana and many other faculty members presided over the function. Tournament started with inauguration match between Vivekanand Hostel and Dhanrajgiri Hostel which ended up as a draw (1-1). In semi-finals, Dhanrajgiri Hostel defeated C V Raman Hostel by 3-0 and in other; Morvi Hostel defeated Vivekanand Hostel by 2-1, in a close match. Aman Nagar, 2nd year electronics, was awarded as Player of the Tournament; C B Singh (Bullu), 3rd year Civil by Golden Boot; Vihan, 5th year Metallurgy as best goalkeeper; and Anand, 1st year Electrical, as fresher of the tournament.

Each year Adel Memorial helps in preparation and short-listing of players for inter-faculty tournament. Captain of IT-BHU football team, Mr. Pramil Jain, told us that all the players look in good physique and we can expect good performance from IT team in Inter-faculty tournament, starting in second week of September (IT was runner-up last year).

Tournament was brought to end by prize distribution ceremony in which sports head of Varanasi was present along with few reputed players of Indian team. Dr. Y. C. Sharma congratulated winning team and gave trophies and medals to players.
