Wonderful Teacher

With a special gift for learning

And with a heart that deeply cares,

You add a lot of love

 To everything you share,

 And even though

 You mean a lot,

You'll never know how much,

For you helped

 To change the world

Through every life you touched.

You sparked the creativity

In the students whom you taught,

And helped them strive for goals

 That could not be bought,

You are such a special teacher

That no words can truly tell

 However much you're valued

For the work you do so well.

@ Aug 05, 2009
view in one page and print

The ‘IT-Kholu’ for the Batch of 2013 is a happy go lucky Varanasi resident named ‘Srishti Didwania’. She has opted for B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering with IIT-JEE All India Rank of 1872.

 (Miss Srishti Didwania)

She was interviewed by Praharsh Sharma (B. Tech. Part-IV, ECE) for Chronicle. Here is what she had to say in an interview with the Chronicle:

_______________________

CHRONICLE: Congrats Srishti! So all settled? How does it feel to be the ‘IT-Kholu’ for the batch of 2013?

Srishti: Thanks! Yeah, it feels great. I have been having a great time with a whole lot of new friends.

CHRONICLE: Tell us something about yourself Srishti.

Srishti: I am a resident of holy city of Varanasi and so one can guess one of the reasons for me to choose IT-BHU. Till Class 10, I had my education from St. John's Marhauli which created my educational base very strongly and I subsequently did Class 12 from Central Hindu Girls School.

CHRONICLE: So, why did you go for B. Tech in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) at IT-BHU?

Srishti: I did not have any special interest in CSE but it was my brother who convinced me that CSE from IT-BHU would be a better combination rather than Civil from other IITs. I expected myself to be among the top students here which I thought would boost my confidence and encourage me to do well in the future too.

CHRONICLE: How good has been the decision (CSE, IT-BHU) so far?

Srishti: CSE would give me the best job package which is my ultimate aim and that too with lesser burden of studies as compared to other branches (this is what I have heard). Well, I am very happy with my decision of choosing IT-BHU and totally satisfied with what I am getting here. IT-BHU has actually come out to be beyond my dreams. It’s quite more interesting than what I had initially thought off. I take immense pleasure to feel greatly satisfied with my decision.

CHRONICLE: Tell us something about your interests, hobbies and your plans for the future.

Srishti: My hobbies are listening songs, sleeping and doing innovative things. My interests lie in swimming, basket ball, dancing, theatre and travelling. Presently I wish to pursue job after B. Tech. and fulfill my various dreams.

CHRONICLE: We wish you all the best Srishti. Thanks for your time and concern.

Srishti: Thanks a lot.

The Chronicle Team wishes Srishti a great success in her life and all the luck in her future endeavours. We look forward to publish more of her success stories in future. Praharsh Sharma can be contacted at: praharshsharmaster@gmail.com

The importance of wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle

http://www.bukisa.com/articles/120327_the-importance-of-wearing-a-helmet-while-riding-a-motorcycle

Posted: Jul 10, 2009

An article discussing the importance of wearing a motor cycle helmet and how it relates to rider safety.

Wearing a crash helmet

When riding a motorbike can save your life. A bold statement but one that shows the importance of wearing a helmet when you are riding a bike. No matter how short your journey there will always be a risk of parting company with your motorcycle and if you are not wearing protection you risk head injury. Although crash helmets may seem expensive when they are new, how much is that cost when you compare it to your continued existence?

Of course it is important to wear the right sort of helmet as well. A crash helmet that has no 'dot' approval or any other safety accreditation can make matters worse and increase injury to your skull due to poor manufacture. Another important factor is the fit of your helmet. Too loose and again you may be better off not wearing one.

When purchasing a new crash helmet it is a good idea to visit a good retailer, so that they can assist with obtaining the correct fit. Use their experience to enhance your safety. This is much better than purchasing a helmet on line, where you are only guessing at how well your purchase will fit you.

You should also be cautious about borrowing someone else's crash helmet or buying a second hand one as you have little knowledge of its history. Most crash helmet construction is such that once it has received an impact it should be discarded and you will not know if this has happened to the borrowed or second hand lid.

An additional value to wearing a crash helmet is that it gives great weather protection that is streamlined and comfortable. Far better a fitted visor than goggles or sunglasses when riding in the rain. The visor's smooth surface will help with shedding rain as you ride into it therefore giving you much better visibility and therefore greater safety in inclement conditions.

In some Countries it is against the law to ride a motorcycle if you are not wearing a crash helmet. In addition, not wearing a helmet can invalidate your vehicle insurance if a helmet is not worn. So, not wearing a helmet can not only endanger your safety but could cost you in other ways as well.

Most riders, if they are honest, know that at some time in their riding career they are likely to come off their bike for some reason or other. The sensible ones wear a crash helmet as insurance against such an event. You can always buy a new helmet if it gets damaged but the same cannot be said about your head.
