Detail of the conference

The 2009 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference was organized by the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists with the theme of Advancing Health through Innovation in Biotherapeutics, in the heaven of America Seattle, Washington, USA scheduled on June 21-24, 2009. Around one thousand peoples attended the conference and exchange the ideas with fellow scientists from over twenty countries around the world. The different technical session designed for four days like Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality, Drug Design and Discovery, Physical Pharmacy and Biopharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Research, Manufacturing Science and Engineering, Regulatory Sciences. The section provides an open forum for the discussion and dissemination of scientific developments. The conference presented 300 contributed papers for poster presentation in three days parallel sessions.

 Experience

2009 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference provided the platform to share ideas, experience and pose questions about the speakers’ research and presentation in symposia and round table discussion. The basic theme of conference to discussed about the innovation in the field of biotherapeutics with co-support of pharmaceuticals to provide the better medicine to treat the different type of diseases. The association gave the chance for direct talk session with speakers that is “Bio-Talk- connect with the speakers” an informal luncheon networking opportunity. In Bio talk sessions we shared ideas about complementary technology and new business ideas.

The technical session invited to participate in a variety of topics including sessions onDrug-drug Interactions, Protein Engineering, Drug Product Manufacturing, Computational Modeling, Translational Research of Biotherapeutics, and QbD. The conference concluded by offering participants the opportunity to attend one of three AAPS sponsored short term courses, all of which are certain to engage your interest. In the poster session although most of the papers at the conference were interesting, there were very few papers that were directly relevant to my research work because the conference was the hybrid of biotechnology and Pharma-technology. Selected graduate students, from reviewed posters, had an opportunity to highlight their major research conclusions. This session had a unique opportunity for attendees to learn about important scientific achievements and obtain a concise preview of some of the best posters at the conference. There were more than 100 exhibitors including manufacturers and suppliers of the materials used in the development and evaluation of biotherapeutics and pharmaceuticals. The AAPS career center offered the various services in expo for the participants like online submission of resume, interview with top companies and networking with recruiting companies.

I am thankful to Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology to provide me opportunities to stand in front of a dynamic international forum that is American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. The forum provides the platform to exchange the knowledge among the scientists to enhance the contribution in research and safety of human health. I interact and shared my view with almost 13,000 individuals representing from industry, academia, government and private institutions. The AAPS provide me chance to update my knowledge with the different field members like research, teaching, product development, quality control, clinical testing, regulatory affairs, and administration management. They offered the well managed scientific programs and ongoing education gives the opportunities for the networking and professional development.

I am very thankful to Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, AAPS (American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists), USA and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi for providing financial assistance to attend the conference and mange the expenses related to travel, accommodation and registration.
