The Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University celebrated IT-Day on Friday, 19th March, 2010 at G-11, which in less than a decade will celebrate its diamond jubilee. It is overwhelming that our institution has been producing engineering stalwarts for 90 years now.
The awards are planned and funded by IT-BHU Global Alumni Association, New Jersey, USA. The selection of students for awards is based on the demonstrated skills and personal qualities by the individual student.
The Student Awards are started from this year (2010). The first awards were given out on IT-Day. The alumni association will continue the award program each year.
There are 3 categories of awards. Each category will have a maximum of 5 awards:
a) 2010 Student IIT-JEE Award
This award is given to the students who have obtained highest rank in 2009 IIT-JEE in general category. Students with top five ranks in IIT-JEE (who were admitted to IT-BHU during 2009-10 academic session) are selected for the award.
The top rank holder gets Rs. 5,000 as prize money, while next 4 rank holders receive Rs. 3,000 each.
b) 2010 Student Leadership Award
This award is given to students showing multi-faceted personality and leadership qualities. They will have to excel in different fields such as academic, interacting with fellow students, alumni relations, social service, competitions, etc.
Each student selected will receive Rs. 3,000 as prize money.
c) 2010 Student Achievement Award
This award is given to students having achieved extraordinary success in any field such as technical competition, essays, scientific paper, sports and cultural competition, social work, etc.
Each student selected will receive Rs. 3,000 as prize money.
Each award winner will receive:
-Check for the prize amount from IT-BHU Global Alumni Association
-Award certificate, issued by the alumni association and presented by Director of IT at IT-Day function
-Citation certificate listing achievement of each awardee, issued by the alumni association and presented by Director of IT at IT-Day function
-Memento

Srishti Didwania (IIT-JEE topper):
I feel very lucky that the year I joined here as JEE topper, it has been recognized and awarded. I think it was very encouraging and people at better ranks should join here the year ahead and prefer a better stream at IT-BHU rather than a lower one at just any other IIT.
