Civil Engineering Society (2009-10), IT-BHU concludes with a Grand Valedictory

The Civil Engineering Society 2009-10 concluded its month long activity sessions with a grand finale at G-11, IT-BHU.

The guest of honor for the program was DIG, Varanasi region, Shri D. K. Thakur; the chief guest being Dean Prof. V. Singh. The proceedings for the evening started with photography session of B. Tech Part-IV and M. Tech Part-II students along with teachers in the Civil Engineering lawns. The program was followed by the HoD, teachers and the students sharing their cherished four year experiences in their farewell speeches.

The valedictory function started with the arrival of guest of honor. The bust of Mahamana Malaviyaji was garlanded along the Kulgeet of the Great University. Then the dignitaries were greeted with bouquets, followed by a welcome address by Prof. P. K. Singh.

Dr. Brind Kumar, then briefed everybody about the activities undertaken under the CES banner, which was followed by presenting the certificates to the winners by the guest of honor.  Shri D. K. Thakur, who has a career spanning 15 years with the IPS & CBI, addressed and appreciated the efforts of the students and had a very lively interactive session with the students.  On being asked about the biggest Challenge he faced in his career, He said, “The biggest challenge I have had to face in my career is to listen & live up to the expectations of the general public.” As an advice to youngsters he said, “…Set an example for people to follow in your footsteps.”

Finally, the dignitaries were presented with mementos followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. P. R. Maiti, wherein he informed the press of various new events, like the staff & Students friendly match, farewell to M. Tech Students, Juniors bidding a farewell to their seniors; introduced by the society to make things more active. He acknowledged the efforts of all those involved who took the activities of the society to many new heights.

This was followed by a lively cultured program where songs dedicated solely to the IV year were presented, after which a video was presented by Ashutosh Pandey on behalf of the 4th year students. After the video presentation was over, the atmosphere was heavy with emotion since the time to bid farewell to the B. Tech Part-IV & M. Tech Part-II students was drawing near. The program culminated with a Magnificent Dinner at the Rampur lawns. All together, the event was a grand success.
