The most awaited day of all the pointer-rich first-yearites, the day of the declaration of result of branch change, finally came on 6th August, 2010.
But due to certain internal inconsistencies, the result had to be revised after thorough discussion in a meeting organized between the Director, Prof. K. P. Singh, the Heads of respective departments, and the branch changing candidates. The revised result was put up on 13th August.
As per the stated norms of branch change, in B. Tech., 5 students got into Computer Engineering, 7 in Electronics Engineering, 7 in Electrical Engineering, 5 in Mechanical Engineering, and1 in Chemical Engineering. In the Dual Degree program, 1 student got into Computer Engineering and 2 in Electrical Engineering.
The cut-offs per branch were - YGPA 8.58 for Computer Engineering (B. Tech.) and 8.52 (Dual Degree), YGPA 8.50 for Electronics Engineering, YGPA 8.32 for Electrical Engineering (B. Tech.) and 8.10 (Dual Degree), YGPA 8.12 for Mechanical Engineering (B. Tech.), YGPA 8.28 for Chemical Engineering (B. Tech.).
(YGPA = Grade Point Average for the entire year)
The number of students who got their branch change was strictly in accordance with the official rule that only 10% of the sanctioned strength of a branch shall be allowed the option of a change of branch, and the input per branch shall not exceed 10% of the sanctioned strength of that particular branch.
The candidates who finally got their branch changed were to start attending their classes in the new departments from 13th August, 2010, and further measures for completion of their registration were followed.
