a) Chennai meet on November 24th
The IT-BHU alumni get-together was held on Wednesday 24th November 2010 at Gandhinagar Club, Adyar, Chennai. The event was co-hosted by Naresh Jain (Electrical 1974), Rajiv Khanna (1979) and V. Subramaniam (Chemical 1982). The event was planned to revive the Chennai Chapter of our alumni association.
There were 22 attendees. The most noteworthy was the presence of Mr. Raj Gupta (1957) and Mr. Ramesh Daga, (1960). (Note- This is something no IIT can match. I think the alumni association should locate more of these seniors and honour/wish them)
The program format was open and meant to get to know each other. Again this was a meeting after a while and a trial for an even bigger get together. Hopefully we will have more singing and dancing then. It was a drink and dinner affair.
The bonding was very good and there was plenty of nostalgia. More than discussion on career achievements etc., people seemed to be enjoying reliving moments of those carefree days. The younger crowd
Next alumni meet of Chennai Chapter is planned around end-January or mid –February.
We need a better mechanism to reach out to fellow alumni to invite at such get together. I remember there was a listing of batch yahoo groups. Maybe the alumni website coordinator can be a specially invitee to all the batch groups so that he can post such invites. The individual batch yahoo groups tend to have more eyeballs.

b) Chennai meet on December 26th
Another IT-BHU alumni get-together for Chennai chapter was held on Sunday 26th December 2010 at Gandhinagar Club, Adyar, Chennai. The Lunch & Beer event was hosted by V. Subramaniam (Chemical 1982). There were 24 attendees. The most noteworthy was the presence of Vish Laxminarayanan (Electrical 1983) and Prof. Pradeep Chintagunta (Mechanical 1984), Robert law Professor of Marketing at University of Chicago.
