An interactive session with Hon’ble Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament was conducted by the Student’s Council of BHU at Swatantrata Bhawan on Monday January 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Some students from all the departments and faculties were given a chance to attend this session. The session began with the BHU Kulgeet followed by paying homage to Malaviyaji. Rahul Gandhi was welcomed by Shashank, Student’s Head, BHU Student’s Council. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. D. P. Singh informed students about the upcoming 150^th birth anniversary of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviyaji and promised to celebrate it throughout the year through many events and competitions. He also informed the students that the central government has established a committee under the auspicious of Hon’ble Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to celebrate Malaviyaji’s birth anniversary on national scale.

The youth icon, Rahul Gandhi began his interaction with his experience from Japan where he realized that the youth are the greatest strength of our country and aimed at working to develop this most valuable resource to its fullest. He emphasized on the need of providing equal opportunities to all the students of India in the fields of education, politics, Bollywood, business and condemned favouritism. He also advocated the establishment of democratic students union in BHU to accelerate progress on this track.

This was followed by a brief question section where he answered to some very interesting questions of the students ranging from reservation to entrepreneurship. The session ended with the National anthem.
