As informed in the past issues, the IT (Amendment) 2010 Bill has been passed by Lok Sabha on March 24. Now we have to wait till it is passed in Rajya Sabha for attaining IIT status for our institute.

The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) 2011 Bill is meant for converting IT-BHU to IIT-BHU and giving official status of IITs to the 8 new IITs. The next session of Parliament and Rajya Sabha will be held during August 1 to September 8.

We have to wait a little more to see our institute as an IIT. We the alumni, teachers, students, parents of students and many well-wishers should not be complacent at this stage as we all have still to overcome the hurdles and the opposition in this journey.

Monsoon session to commence from Aug 1

PTI Jun 21, 2011, 03.32pm IST

NEW DELHI: The Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from August 1 to September 8.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) headed by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.

After the meeting, parliamentary affairs ministers Pawan Kumar Bansal said that the committee decided to recommend to the President to convene the session from August 1.

"The CCPA has decided to recommend to the President for summoning the session of two houses of Parliament on August 1 and given the contingencies and exigencies of the work, it is likely to go up to September 8," he told reporters.

Asked why the session was delayed, Bansal said, "There have been instances in the past also where the session has been held in August."

On Women's Reservation Bill, the minister said, "The government's seriousness on the issue showed when it got it into Rajya Sabha and also took a little unpleasant dose to see that it is passed."

Government has already announced its plans to bring the much-talked about Lokpal Bill in the Monsoon session.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from August 1 to September 8.

“I've known Jyoti Di (as we called her) since July 2000 when I joined IT-BHU she was a happy go lucky girl. A great senior and good to spend time with...she used to be so +ve all the time..”mast” and “Bindaas” is what I would call her...never expected it would end like this....even to believe her death took some time and lot of confirmations.

I got a chance to meet her again when I joined TCS Lucknow in 2006. She used to be onsite on and off but with her being in office was always a feel good factor.”
