Chronicle note: Below please find tribute received for the death of Mr. Bipin Kumar by his colleague, Mr. Eli Levy. We received his message on January 31, 2012. It is heartening to know that his colleague in faraway place has remembered him even after a lapse of several years.

Mr. Bipin Kumar died on October 10, 1986. His obituary was covered in October 2006 issue of chronicle (scroll down):

Mr. Eli Levy works as Pressure Vessels and Piping Engineer at Arup South Africa, Johannesburg Area, South Africa.

Tribute to Bipin Kumar by Eli Levy:

“It is with deep regret and consternation that I read the untimely passing of our friend and L&T dedicated worker Mr. Bipin Kumar may his soul rest in peace.

Bipin was appointed to handle the project for Uhde in South Africa and I was the Engineer responsible for the Mechanical Engineering and equipment fabrication. Bipin was very professional and he and I came to work together in a straight and honest relationship. During my visits to India to assist with Engineering and Inspection of the equipment, Bipin and his wife hosted me and took me to visit places of interest like the Elephanta Island. Bipin also reciprocated and was sent by L&T to visit the plant and I hosted him, taking him and his wife to Sun City to see and enjoy his stay in South Africa.

It is difficult to believe that such a nice and friendly person has been taken so fast. May God give the family the strength and be comforted in this time of the loss of a person that was an example of honesty, integrity and joviality like Bipin Kumar was.

We all shall mourn this loss of Bipin for a long time. L&T have lost a real asset and I extend my condolences to the L&T management and staff.
