Several sources have reported that the Government Business during the week commencing Tuesday, the 16th August, 2011 would consist of :

1. Consideration of any item of Government Business carried over from today’s Order paper.

2. Consideration and passing of the following Bills :

  (a) The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2010;
  (b) The National Council for Teacher Education (Amendment) Bill, 2010;
  (c) The Seeds Bill, 2004;
  (d) The Pesticides Management Bill, 2008; and
  (e) The Educational Tribunals Bill, 2010.

3. Consideration and passing of the following Bills, as passed by Lok Sabha :

  (a) The Institute of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2011.
  (b) The State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks Laws) Amendment Bill, 2011.

4. Consideration and passing of the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Bill, 2009, after it is passed by Lok Sabha.

We are happy to announce the results of the elections for the board of directors for the ITBHU Global Alumni Association (India). The details of the votes cast are available at http://www.itbhuglobal.org/elections/pollingbooth/?q=node/7. Polling closed at 23:59 IST on July 25, 2011.

The election process allows only one director per state, with a max of 6 directors. Since the two candidates from Andhra Pradesh secured the same number of votes (5th highest), the election team had a discussion with them, upon which Arup Guha withdrew, with a promise to help the board as a volunteer.

The final list of board members is therefore as follows:

He was a very entertaining, jovial, cheerful and an easy going person - an excellent flute player and a cricketer of high quality. He is one of the doctoral students of Professor P Rama Rao and had worked on Low Stress Creep of Zirconium and Zircalloy, materials that are of extreme importance to Nuclear Field. He was the only son of Late Dr. N Narasimhan, Renowned Radiophysicist of BARC and DRDO's first RAC Chairman.

Election Officer, IBGAA India 2011 elections 

Dear Fellow ITBHU Alumni,

Thanks a lot for your nominations for the elections of IBGAA (India). Sorry for a bit of delay while we were confirming certain information about the scope of the elections with the existing board. The final news is as follows:

1. Elections are going to be held only for 6 posts, with the Director of the institute being the ex-officio member from U.P. As a result, we cannot accept nominations from people in U.P. Sorry about that.
2. All 6 elected directors will have to be from separate states (and none from U.P.).

There will be a huge gathering of all IT-BHU alumni in the USA on Saturday, September 17, 2011 (changed from Aug 27 announced earlier) in Chicago. More details coming soon, including information about events in other locations all over the world on the same date. Mark your calendars.

Will IT-BHU be converted to IIT? If so, When?
Yes, and very soon. The IIT bill has been passed by the Lok Sabha, and we expect it to be passed in the upcoming session of the Rajya Sabha.

Will I get an IIT degree if the conversion happens after I join?
Yes. The degree is given in the name used at the time of graduation.

I would love to be able to call/meet an ITBHU alumnus in my city (Bangalore, Delhi, Patna, etc.). Can someone help?
