All 14 posts of BoD are open for contest. The detail about sending nomination is given
below. Our website will be frequently updated to show the nominations received so far.

The election process of forming new Board of Directors shall be over in next 2 months.
The new BoD shall be ready by April end.

• Announcement of BoD election: January 31, 2013

• Last date of receiving nomination: February 28, 2013

• Last date of withdrawing or changing nominations: March 10, 2013

• The new board of directors will for the term from April 2013 to March 2015.

Any registered alumnus can stand for a particular post of director. The candidate should
state his preference for a particular post. The different posts for BoD are as per the
instructions below.

Prof. Dhananjay Pandey, School of Material Science & Technology, IIT(BHU) has assumed the charge of Director, IIT(BHU) w.e.f. July 10, 2012.

Prof. Pandey has published extensively and was also actively involved in the campign to convert IT-BHU to IIT.

We congratulate Prof. Pandey, and look forward to working with him as the IIT conversion takes place.

We are very happy to announce that the IIT act has been finally notified in the Gazette of India. This is a very happy day indeed for all in the Techno/MINMET/BENCO/IT-BHU and now, IIT BHU community.

On behalf of all alumni, we would like to congratulate everyone, and also acknowledge all those whose tireless efforts over the years have made this possible.

Our sources have informed us that the honorable president of India has given her assent to the Institutes of Technology (2012) bill. This is the next step in the official conversion of our institute to IIT (BHU) Varanasi. We eagerly await the publication of the same in the gazette.

The IIT(BHU) fraternity takes great pleasure in extending its heartiest congratulations to all of you who have qualified the IIT JEE 2012. It is the first and most significant step towards the intense journey of personal transformation that you will undertake in the next four or five years. We know from our own experience that as exciting as it sounds, it is intimidating too. A bunch of questions would pop up as you decide which course to pursue and at which IIT.

IIT(BHU), the oldest among the 16 IITs with a history spanning over more than 9 decades, breathes inside the lush green campus of the largest residential university of Asia - Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

The institute boasts of extensive infrastructure with royal architecture reminiscent of the pre-independence era. Life at campus is vibrant all the year round with host of activities conducted by various Student Clubs. If you have a passion there is a club for it !!!

Students also get ample opportunities to pursue multidisciplinary activities in coordination with other faculties of the university such as pure sciences, the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) - a top notch medical school, Faculty of Fine Arts etc. This model is a very unique feature of IIT(BHU) that sets it apart in the whole of IIT system.
